Scoring

This event is a self-timed event. All participants are responsible for looking at the time on the clock as they pass through the finish line and reporting that time to their team captain. All registered and eligible participants can score.

The team captain is responsible for completing score cards that will be supplied in the team race packet prior to race night. However, this is optional and at the discretion of each team.

All score cards must be handed in by 9 p.m. on race night in the Registration tent or no later than 3 p.m.on Wednesday, August 4 at the Marcum Workplace Challenge Office.

Results can be inputted through your Company Captain tools. All results must be entered by Wednesday, August 4 at 3p.m.

Teams are designated as follows:

  • Men's Team: consists of 3 men
  • Women's Team: consists of 3 women
  • Coed Team: consists of 2 men, 2 women
  • A person can only compete on ONE team
  • A "Top Dog" participant may compete on a team

  • "The Legal Challenge"- Top Male, Female and Coed Teams from a Law Firm

  • "John E. McGorry Jr. Spirit of the Race" Award  **

**John E. McGorry Jr. instituted the "Challenge" as part of The Long Island Home’s employee wellness initiative in 1986. From 1986 – 2007, John represented The Long Island Home and its staff as team captain. In 1986, with only 6 staff (4 men, 2 women), John and his co-workers ran/walked the 3.5 mile Manufacturer’s Hanover Corporate Challenge. Today, over 100 Long Island Home staff and family gather each year to represent the hospital in the Marcum Workplace Challenge. John’s lifelong endeavor to create a balance of emotional, physical and mental health is commemorated through the continued support and increasing employee participation of The Long Island Home family at the Marcum Workplace Challenge. John, a legend in teh long Island running community,  passsed away in September 2009 after a long illness.
